Recycling
An easy way to help the Bighead River Foodgrains Project raise money to help feed the hungry people of the world while recycling is to collect aluminum cans, scrap metal and liquor bottles/cans.
Dedicated volunteers collect and crush aluminum pop cans, collect scrap metal and collect beer and liquor bottles/cans. The metal is taken to a depot where it is weighed and paid out per pound and the beer and liquor bottles/cans are returned to the LCBO for refund. Barrels have been placed around town to collect aluminum cans or you can drop them off at Knox Presbyterian church just south of Georgian Bay Community School. If you would like pickup, please call Wes Sparling at 519-538-3196. In 2022, the aluminum cans and liquor bottles/cans raised $5700. The scrap metal collection generated over $10000.
